About Fourthly Health
Who is Fourthly Health for?
Our first group is for first-time moms in the Bay Area. We’re starting with 50 moms, and you can join the waitlist now.
What do I get?
A care team and a community for your whole first year after birth:
- A maternal-fetal medicine specialist who leads your care
- A nurse practitioner as your point person
- A daily check-in on the app, plus a blood pressure cuff that syncs to it
- Lactation, mental health and pelvic floor physical therapy support
- A peer-led moms’ group on Zoom and a WhatsApp group
How is this different from my six-week visit?
Usual postpartum care ends with one visit around six weeks. But that’s often when problems like high blood pressure, heart trouble and postpartum depression can show up, and the everyday questions keep coming. Fourthly stays with you for 12 months.
Do I still see my OB?
Yes. Fourthly doesn’t replace your OB. Before your six-week visit, we give you a one-page summary of your recovery so far to bring with you.
How it works
When do I start?
You can enroll from 37 weeks of pregnancy and meet your nurse practitioner before the baby arrives. If you’re past 37 weeks, you can still join.
How long does it last?
12 months after birth. Weeks 0 to 16 are the hardest stretch, so that’s when your clinical team is most involved. From months 4 to 12 you keep your team and your community, and you graduate at month 12.
What’s the daily check-in?
A few quick questions on the app each day about how you’re feeling. Your blood pressure cuff sends its readings to the app too. Your nurse practitioner reads your check-ins, so someone notices if something changes.
Is it virtual or in person?
Virtual. Your visits with your nurse practitioner and specialists are virtual, your check-ins happen on the app, and the moms’ group meets on Zoom. You keep your in-person visits with your OB.
What if something feels wrong in the middle of the night?
Fourthly isn’t for emergencies. If you’re having a medical emergency, call 911. If you’re in crisis, call or text 988. For urgent issues that aren’t emergencies, an on-call provider is available.
Cost and joining
How much does it cost?
$5,000 for the full 12 months. You can pay in full, or in five installments of $1,000. You can use HSA or FSA funds.
Does insurance cover it?
Not yet. Our first group of moms pays directly, and we’re working toward coverage through employers and health plans. You can use HSA or FSA funds.
Can family and friends give Fourthly as a gift?
Yes. Fourthly makes a meaningful gift from family and friends, or from a baby shower. Start a gift and we’ll be in touch to set it up.
